Emerald Youth Foundation is a Christian, urban youth and community ministry in Knoxville, TN serving over 2,000 young people annually. Emerald Youth’s ministry is implemented through a network of more than 18 churches and faith-based organizations to raise up a large number of urban youth who love Jesus Christ and become effective leaders who help renew their communities.

  • Actively identify, recruit, engage, and support neighborhood high school students, primarily those already participating in JustLead and EY Sports activities, and college students to use Calling and Career Center services. Recruit from neighborhood high school as an entry point into Emerald Youth programming as well. Ensure target number of participants engage in learning.
  • Identify constraints or leakage related to the Calling and Career Center that could keep young adults from being comprehensively engaged or meeting academic outcomes. Seek solutions working collaboratively with supervisor to attempt and resolve issues so students can move forward in programs.
  • Know students and their families to help maintain participation levels in programs. Ensure team builds relationships with students to be able to lead them and encourage them.
  • Ensure snacks are purchased, prepped and provided to students during programs.
  • Ensure facility is clean, organized, and well maintained. Be responsible for opening and closing building.
  • Operate technology and prepare and implement learning materials as needed for the program. Ensure quality of items meet needs. Coordinate with the program development team to identify needed curriculum and to ensure compliance with Emerald Youth values.
  • Match students with tutors as needed, and enroll students into appropriate workshops and classes. Help plan and implement college visits.
  • Maintain certification to implement Calling and Career assessments and discuss results with student and family.
  • Oversee crisis situations and communicate with student and/or family as needed, proving support and guidance. Coordinate with supervisor in case of such an event.
  • Assist in recruiting, as well as lead and supervise a team consisting of AmeriCorps and volunteers. Work closely with human resources in the selection process for new team members, including interviewing identified top candidates as needed. Identify indigenous population for both volunteering and employment opportunities. Work with staff to develop objective performance measurements to ensure consistent high-quality performance is met and development opportunities are recognized and addressed. Train staff in areas as needed. Instill and encourage spiritual disciplines for all members and help the team to grow and become better through high standards, discipleship, and modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Maintain a current CDL and drive large vehicles/buses as needed or help coordinate transportation as needed


  • Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards.
  • Education, counseling or related Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ideally 3-5 years’ experience in counseling or youth programs coordination.
  • Must hold or obtain a CDL and drive large vehicles/buses.
  • Must obtain certification in designated Calling & Career assessment.
